NCTC ONSA HOLDS STRATEGIC MEETING WITH IA ON IMPLEMENTATION OF DDR WORKSHOP

The National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) led by the National Coordinator, Rear Admiral YEM Musa (rtd) held a strategic engagement with International Alert, Nigeria, led by its Country Director, Mr. Paul Nyulaku on Tuesday, 7 March, 2023. The meeting was a follow-up to the Technical Workshop on Amnesty Management, Deradicalisation and Community-Based Reintegration held in Abuja from 31 January to 3 February, 2023.

During the meeting, important decisions to fast track the outcome of the Workshop was taken. Among these decisions include but not limited to the need for more capacity/knowledge to effectively coordinate the Disarmament, Deradicalisation and Reintegration (DDR) process and to have a firm grasp of the technical aspect of DDR.

 

The goal of DDR efforts is to reduce the fighting capacity of terrorists in the country and its neighbouring nations.
